I think in all the excitement of the curret threads we have not taken in the very sad loss of one of more reverred Leichtbau Boys. He will be sadly missed as a great wit, sport and enthusiastic contributor to these pages. His enthusiasm has never lacked and when asked to defend the Leichtbau faith he has always been there. Sad to see you go.I'm sure I speak for many fellow Register and Club Members in wishing you a bon voyage and all the best with your new life in Aus......[;)]

Guys

I am touched! However, you may not realise but the internet is World Wide, as sort of web thing! You cannot escape that easily. And I might well be in the country for Oulton Park, but without a car.

Although the flights aren't booked, it looks like we will be flying out the evening of 10th January. The car will be shipped at about the same time and should take about 8 weeks including customs clearance. It will only be after the car gets there that I can assess just how bad not having aircon will be and just how rough Aussie roads really are. However, I do intend to use the car more as a toy, with some sprints and trackdays. So, it's not all bad.

And I hope if anybody makes it to Sydney, they look me up.

Simon - it has been a pleasure and I hope you keep posting. Hope to see you in Sydney!

Regards

Oi, the way Carreraboy started this post, I thought Simon had died!

Don't think we've met but have seen your posts....on Rennlist ;-)
All the best.

Simon,
Have a great time in Oz. Thanks for you RS advice here and over on Rennlist.

You'll be missed next year by the JD3 '64RS team - did Des ever talk to you about the 'Extreme Trophy'. Seems even more relevant now!

If you want (and assuming you don't need them anymore for insurance purposes) I'd be happy for you to send me the offending article and I'll get some kind of trophy made up. Would be a nice way to leave your mark here in Blighty. Send me an email via my profile.

I really like the idea of the "Extreme Trophy" but need to give it some thought. I have a photo record of what happened and a photo of the offending item but had theought I might keep it as part of the car's history! However, the trophy does seem to be a great idea.!

Simon a legacy in your own Lunchtime, immortalised in history for generations to come a piece of Leichtbau history....[;)]

I hear the GT3 boys are planning a party!
I should think so! This gets them off paying up on the bet[;)][:D]

What was the bet?

MK1 GT3 values from last January (2006) to January 2007 .................... think Simon said they would drop 20k or something.
On the basis they are the same now as last year he owes £50 to Adrien, and has to eat his 964 RS hat [:D]

I thought it was that values would drop. I don't think I stated by how much. However, I seem to remember that when I suggested a bet, I was accused of being "flash with the cash" and the bet was never taken up.

Anyway, Mk1 GT3's can be bought cheaper now than a year ago and 964RS's cost more! So, 964RS owners are happy and GT3 owners are happy because they have still had pretty cheap motoring this year because they haven't gone down very much, compared with some 996's [&:]
