Hi guys I need advice on tyres my 996 c2 cab has got pirelli all round now the front need changing 225/40/18 n4. I was shopping around and found dunlops for £150 pair new but not sure if n rated. Does it matter about the "N". Got no idea what the N4 etc means. Any help?
Thank you.

N rating indicates that the tyre has been approved by Porsche, the number is just the sequence order of approval, e.g. first tyre approved for a particular model is N0 the next is N1 etc.

I wouldn't recommend fitting a non-N rated tyre.

N rating means the tyres have been tested and approved by Porsche. As each manufacturer develops a particular series of tyres, so the N rating goes up by one (starting at N0), Therefore N4 means it is the 4th design revision of that tyre.

It is a contentious issue, but it isn't recommended to mix tyres of different brands or N ratings. There is plenty of info if you do a search, and there is some info in the members section (which you won't be able to access). Drop me an email to richard996 at gmail d0t c0m and I'll attach it to a reply.
