Sound System question

Merry Chrimbo everybody! Few of questions about my cars sound system. I've changed my mind about updating the aftermarket tape deck already fitted in my car to a CD changer. I've now decided to revert back to Porsche original blue spot. (Its only to keep the missus happy when she's a passenger - my sound system as you'll all know is supplied by window down, exhaust pipe, engine etc.....) The questions are: What "blue spot" was fitted to a LHD 88 coupe. Where would I get one from, and how much would I expect to have to pay? Right I'm off to the garage to play with my wife er car sorry!

Happy new year!

Not sure about the LDH (or country of origin) spec, but Peter Morgan's book claims that the options were M326 - Berlin, M328 Koln, M328 Symphony, M329/30 - Toronto. So I guess it depends on your cars build sheet - in the owners handbook or stuck under the bonnet.

I doubt that anybody would really mind if the car did not have its period correct radio, after all its not a 73 RS or a 356 Carrera. Sticking to a Blaupunct is a nice touch, but I would just get the best I could afford. The original stereo in my 89 car was rubbish (even with the sound package) but a new "London" in dash CD player and Infinity speakers have made a world of difference. If you are upgrading, installing a 1980s head unit when you can have a 2004 head unit doesn't make a whole lot of sense IMHO. Of course YMMV.

Hi
I have my original Blaupunkt Toronto SQR46 head sitting in the garage doing nothing.
If memory serves me right the radio was extremely good the cassette less so.
How about 30 quid plus postage.can't guarantee all functions as it hasn't been used for years but it had no faults when I upgraded to Alpine five years ago.

Hi Mike. I had my car in for a new crank sensor last week. Talking to the mechanic I expressed my interest for Porsche original equipment audio. She looked at me like I was stupid. My car has a Becker Monza stereo. Apparently this was one of the upgrade options available from Porsche. Ignorant me had never heard of the make but have since had a look on the net and discovered she is right. They are a German company as well. The sound quaility isn't too bad and seeing as you could buy this system from Porsche anyway I think I'll stick with what I've got. Thanks for the offer anyway. Cheers!
