South Coast Run This Year June 1st

Last year in combination with a Goodwood breakfast meet, us 944 types (with one beetle interloper) had an excellent run along the South coast - Arundel, Brighton, Beachy Head et al.

Was a great day out - was wondering if the intention is for a repeat this year ?

June the 1st it is then [:)]

Now we just need to round up Keith to sort us a route from Hastings to wherever we end up going this year

Well there is always the Pub at the marina followed by the Pub at Beachy (Beaky?) Head. We could do it the other way around this time. [;)] However, marinas at mid day always has the promise of a bit of bird watching. [;)]

No can do ... sorry. Stag weekend somewhere rather more northerly that weekend ...

(So if I arrive on the run with a tied-up stag in the boot, you'll know it is going very well!)

Oli.

Yes indeed the scenery was most edifying last year at times - Lets hope the sun is shining again this time round....[:D]

/bumpity bump.

Just a week to go - shall we decide upon a rendezvous point (or maybe points) if folk are still planning on going. Gathering to survey the beauty of Thurrock services in the early morning light might be a good starting point for some ?

did I read somewhere that there is a special Porsche hill climb event at Goodwood this summer ?

No it was just wishful thinking on my part.
It was that Hamilton will be competing in a Mclaren

So is the plan to meet for brekkies at Goodwood and then head off for a wee drive?? I'm game for that if we can avoid Arundel (personal reasons!!)

I understand that there is another Gold Track track evening tomorrow (Weds) at Silverstone is anyone going?

Nick

I don't know what plan (if any) there is. Last year we met up at Goodwood for brekkie and a look round the assembled machinery, this part was actually arranged by R11 in 2007, we met at Thurrock services and made discreet progress from there.

Hopefully something similar can be arranged for those of us planning to come from that kind of direction this year. (Mr Sims mentioned something along those lines a while ago).

Part 2 last year (the 944 bit) involved travelling down to Brighton for a drink, chat and gawp at the scenery at the Marina (yes we did clip the edge of Arundel Nick but didnt stop !).

Then some of us headed further along the coast to Beachy Head and had a slap up meal at a hostelry there before heading for home.

I would imagine something similar would occur again. Guy called Keith usually organises the South Coast run as he is a local down there, but sadly he doesnt seem to be around anymore so dont know for sure.

As for non 944 interlopers, we had a Renault Laguna and some sort of strange rear engined contraption tag along last year so I would imagine anything goes [;)]

Just to avoid any confusion the 11:45 meeting will be on foot (ie without cars) to sort out who is where, and in what car park, ready to form up for a run to the South Coast. Bring your radios and tune in to Channel 500

For those that might be interested - comming from the East - we can meet at Thurrock services (car park not the petrol station) at silly o'clock.

Hope you all have a good day. This was a great drive last year and I'm sure it'll be the same again this time around. Fingers crossed you'll get some good weather too.

That personal spy satellite of yours certainly comes in handy Mr S [;)]. How silly do you anticipate silly o'clock to be ? I will be there, just need to work out a departure time from the land of the East Angles.
