South Coast Run This Year June 1st

Please don't take this as an excuse to talk about me!

We never seem to need an excuse to do that [;)]

Looking forward to tomorrow despite what will be a hideously early start for me. Best abstain from any beer tonight [&o]

I'll be there tomorrow...most likely taking the 944. I want the missus to drive it home from there so she's had a least one go in it before we head off to lemans. See you guys there I'm sure.

What time do people tend to stay till ? I have to take a friend to Gatwick in the morning and was thinking of calling by on the way home....

Was a small gathering in the end but a really enjoyable day. Joined up with Mr Sims at Thurrock along with a guy called Steve in a Noble (no idea where he sprung from but a really nice bloke and a great car - that is one fast machine).

The three of us made decent progress down to the second rendezvous point on the A3 where we joined up with Rick and various other folk (think they were all from London region ?) and set off in convoy. Johns Sat-nav sent us on the, erm, scenic route to Goodwood but the sun came out as we arrived. Annoyingly the group was split up at that point as some were let in through the gate while others were banished to the public car park. []

We had a wander round and queued up for the worlds most expensive breakfast, then stationed ourselves on the roof of the pit building and watched the world go by. (Some great cars and some equally great young ladies...)

Convoy then set off for Brighton - was a good blast for the first part running along with a Ferrari (360 I think) though once we got to the edge of town progress was reduced to a frustrating crawl thanks to weight of vehicles on the road and every traffic light in Brighton changing to red just as we reached it.

Had a beer at the Marina and then the four hardiest souls amongst us pressed onto Beachy Head. We had a pleasant wander along the cliffs and then an equally pleasant meal at the pub there before heading on home.

All in all a very long day but a very enjoyable one.

I couldn't have put it better myself. Dear Mr McN' please include in Porsche Post. [;)]

In defence of my sat nav, I was in communication with Mr Cannell, to check the route as we progressed, and his said exactly the same. It won't happen again though as I will check the co-ordinates on Google Earth next time.

As Jon said, it was a select gathering but great fun none the less. I thought I had a long day but Jon had an hour more each way. Such dedication. Where were the rest of you?

I'm annoyed that I missed it, but it's silly season for me at this time of year. I suggest more events in the winter! [:)]

Send me a few words and some pictures and I'll put it in next month's column.

Just scrawled that when sat at my desk trying to wake up enough to do some work - could do with some polishing !

Great to meet some of you guys on Sunday alongside the A3. By the time I'd dropped in to pick up the girlfriend from Guildford, I'd clearly missed the convoy so we made our own way down on the A285 and saw all sorts of interesting metal. And I even got a flash and a wave from a guards red 944 Lux owner.

I hope you all enjoyed looking at the Veyron...

Hi All - I turned up at Goodwood for the meet, but had a call at 10.20 and needed to dash home so missed you all. I parked in the tarmac car park on the right, but had to persuade the steward to let me in, he was trying to push me of to the grass car park.

As some of us don't know one another (well I don't!) it might be better to have an earlier meeting up time so we know who we all are before we have a good look around. Last year we all managed to spread the word and eventually all managed to get our cars into the car park on the right for a group photo.

As I live in Chichester and know the surrounding area so I could take you on some nice country roads before heading off to Brighton.

Until the next time....

Les

We had an early meet point on the A3 though that would not be much use for those from the South Coast area. Perhaps for next year we could identify a place just a few miles from Goodwood where everyone could converge to before all forming up for the final stretch to the circuit.

That way we should be able to make it a real group day rather than end up with arrivals in dribs and drabs as seems to have happened, which is a shame.
