Spa Francorchamps and Zandvoort 2014

A summer trip to take in track days at Spa and Zandvoort is now well in the planning stages. It's shaping up like this:

Itinerary:
Sunday 13 July - Drive over to Spa and meet up
Monday 14 July - Trackday at Spa
Tuesday 15 July - Leisurely drive to Zandvoort and check in to hotel
Wednesday 16 July - Trackday at Zandvoort
Thursday 17 July - Drive home

Track day details:
The track days are being run by Bookatrack on both days. Spa is £375 and Zandvoort is £325. Both are open pitlane. Bookatrack have promised me free F1 pit boxes at Spa for every 4 cars booked before the end of the year and free garages at Zandvoort for every 2 cars booked before the end of the year. These are normally charged at £100 per garage.

Travel details:
Travelling from the South - Channel Tunnel is approx £100 return (travel out on the Sunday and back on either Wednesday evening or Thursday daytime as you think fit).
Travelling from the North - Hull to Rotterdam ferry is approx £350 return including cabin (travel out Saturday overnight and return Wednesday overnight).

Accommodation:
Spa - Rooms at Neil & Anne's B&B have been reserved for us for Sunday and Monday nights. NOW FULL

Spa could really fit in well with some work commitments. Not sure if will be able to stretch to Zandvoort as well.

As of this morning there are 6 people booked onto the Spa trackday , so we are looking to get at least another 2 booked before year end to have 2 'free' pit garages. Looking at the list 'booked' for Neil & Annes , if everyone is actually booked in for the trackday we will be well on the way to 3 garages.

Also it looks like we may need to find another lodging , as Steve's friend Tony is one of those already booked on the trackday but currently no room at the inn for him....(.or Chris W ....or Kevin (!) )

If anyone's stuck for accommodation I can recommend the Best Western Hotel l'Auberge in Spa centre. They have 2 self-contained multi-bedroom apartments on the top floor of the adjacent building which can sleep 3/4 people each. There is also secure indoor garage parking for the cars.

In case anyone was wondering about the 88 db noise limit for Zandvoort.......this refers to noise being measured 30m from the middle of the track on drive-by. In BaT's experience, you have to be very loud to trip it (but take something to muffle the noise of your car if you think it is borderline). Standard(ish) exhausts should not be a problem. Modified Alzen cup cars will only be a problem if they're driven quickly. [

Looks comfortable, beer and food, parking, reasonably priced and about 20 mins drive from circuit.

While there are plenty of rooms I suggest booking it asap to make sure you're in.

Up to you Des. Those of us northerners that will be using the Hull-Rotterdam ferry just need the hotel for the 15th as we can easily get the ferry after the trackday. Those using the chunnel might find it more relaxing to stop over at the hotel on the 16th as well.
