Spa Hotel recommendations

I find that I am in the position where have to race at Spa in the Britcar 4hrs at the end of May (it's OK, I'm in a Porker albeit a Kettle) and I have not raced there since 1996. The team are talking about taking motorhomes/caravans but I will be sixty this year and my camping days are well and truly over. Can someone recommend a hotel nearby that is relatively comfortable and not too expensive? - lots of heads to fit onto pillows.

the Relais du Pommard is about two minutes from the circuit and is cheap and chearful, http://www.francorchamps-hotel.com/. A little way up the road is the Hotel Roannay which is ok so long as you don't eat there (expensive !)http://www.roannay.com/ Our group of 64r's stayed at a little B&B www.aeaventures.com it's about ten mins from the circuit in the peaceful town of Moulin du ruy. Run by Neil & Anne it's comfortable, basic and very reasonably priced Neil runs bike courses at the ring so they are switched on to motorsports, check there calendar to see if they have space (edited to say i just checked the calendar and they are full!) . All the above may well be booked up already. One other I have stayed in , The Heid du Pairs in spa itself is also very nice (ferrari team members stay there during F1 !!) http://www.laheid.be/. www.Spa-francorchamps.be i think is the circuit web site which should have more details of all the available places to stay.

I have used Hotel Beau Site, which I found to be quite good. Run by likable chap who goes by the name of Rene. Not quite Allo Allo and don't worry there is no Edith singing in the bar.[:D]

As a fellow 60 yr old, i d second Val d'Ambleve , using it with a few other UK guys w/end 25/27th May ...............other than referring to our mutual age , ur avatar always worries me , i learnt to drive on one !.........still learning ...............

Thank you all for your most useful pointers - a bit of delving approaches. Oh, and Vic, the Anglebox is a most entertaining car, come and have a go......[;)]

This used to be a favourite of F1 drivers. Went many years ago and it was OK, no more. My room had plenty of F1 memorabilia, but I do not see any of this left in the current pictures...

stayed here for the 24 hours last year - its a 20 minute drive (and a great one too) to the circuit but the rooms are good and the food is to die for - possibly not what you are looking for but, hey.......

Another vote for Relais du Pommard we stay there for our race at spa every year. Jack who runs the place is really friendly. And as said close to circuit, and usually nice appartment style rooms.
