Space behind the rear seats

In an obscure little section of the manual about not carrying a fuel can, it says that if you must carry a fuel can store it somewhere safe "like behind the rear seats".

Ah ha, I thought, some storage space I've not yet found in my new acquisition!
Folded down the seats and there is just a neat back wall that seems well fixed in place. No space.

So have I misunderstood something? It's a C4, so perhaps the manual's comment only applies to the C2.

Surely on the floor is the only place - between the front and rear seats. I think behind has been mis-translated somehow.

Indeed - there is no way I'd carry a fuel can (perhaps of the roof of a SUV crossing the desert) - but I can't help reading the manual.

On a slightly related topic the fuel gauge seems to tell the truth - ie when the needle points at the bottom of the paintwork on the gauge, the tank is empty (I managed to get 70.5 litres into the tank). Fine, now I know this, I'm just (wrongly) used to cars that give you a bit of leeway.

Is the speedo also "accurate" in 993s?

Only in the cabin for a short run with the windows open of course. Better than having it sliding around in the front.....

Have a good break in Wales and don't forget the waterproofs.

Scarily, I think mine under-reads a little. The radar speed indicator boards around here always show me going faster that the speedo shows - my 30mph is their 33mph. It may be a ploy of course, or where I sit in relation to the dial, but I always find myself going faster than other traffic in these situations.

Richard,

Get a GPS device such as a road angel or co pilot and it will give a true reading as to your speed. Would agree with previous postings that the speedo reads about approx 5% high.

Those speed indicator boards are a joke, I have been doing 30 mph according to gps device, but still tripped a 40 mph warninng.
