Spacers on 993RS's

I've just acquired a 993RS - Tom Schmitz via Paul McLean. So far so good after a baptism at Spa with RMA! . It has come with 15mm wheel spacers all round which I suspect are non-standard. And the front drivers side (LHD) wheel just rubs the wheel arch a touch at 10.00 o'clock when the track tyres (Dunlop Formula Rs) are on.and I'm trying hard.

Can anyone confirm whether the spacers are non-standard? If so, that may be the answer to my wheel rubbing problem

Thanks

Robin

Spacers are definitely non-standard on the RS.

Depending on suspension setup, your tyres may rub. My fronts rub a bit on 225 Cup tyres at the front, and rub a lot on 235 Dunlop D01J's that are on it at the moment. I wouldn't worry about rubbing if it is only when making very tight turns, like parking the car.

I don't know why you would need spacers, with the right set up the standard car handles amazingly well.

Are the arches rolled on your car? Rolling them may help your rubbing problem if you want to keep running the spacers.

Robin, mine doesn't have spacers. I did have the same problem on the 964 RS and had them taken off. You might need a new set of wheel bolts (shorter) without the spacers.

Mind you, it didn't seem to hold you back any at Spa!

Spacers are not standard,i use them on my car.You may find because spa is a fast highload corner circuit ,the car is rolling on the springs, that little bit more at spa than most other circuits.
What are your rollbars set at?
Is the car standard height or lowered?
If its touching just a little,i would not worry about it.If it concerns you, just take the front spacers off.

Many thanks to Paul and everyone who''s come back to me on this. Overall conclusion seems to be 'take the spacers' off as they are not really necessary and try that first. Its due a suspension set up anyway.

Cheers

Robin
