Well done Allan. Do they do a kit at the OPC, or do you have to buy them separately ? How have you bought yours..?
Unfortunately neither Halfords (last time I checked they did not even list the 997) nor the OPCs do a kit so bulbs have to be purchased individually. Russell Freeman at Solihull provided the part numbers for the bulbs needed and he did a great job of packing and posting them to me but he was unable to match-up the numbers with the bulb's function. Some were obvious, e.g. the Bi-Xenon, but most had to be identified by cross referencing with the handbook. However, be warned, some people have bought cars for less than the OPC price of the Bi-Xenon bulb [&:].

I wasn't aware it was necessary to carry a spare headlamp lamp if it was a HID..[&:]

As I said in most countries its only a recommendation so it's not always necessary to carry any. For those countries where it is compulsory the AA advice is not specific as to bulb type.
"On some cars it is inadvisable or impossible for anyone other than a qualified technician to change a headlamp bulb unit e.g. high intensity discharge (HID) headlamps and carrying spares is not an option"

The AA has a downloadable doc which says:
"On some cars it is inadvisable or impossible for anyone other than a qualified technician to change a headlamp bulb unit e.g. high intensity discharge (HID) headlamps and carrying spares is not an option"
Thanks for the link - not seen that before. However, reading the handbook it looks a reasonably straightforward task, just need to take care not to touch the glass.
