Spare Key required

Hi
Does anyone know of a cheaper way of having a spare key made?
OPC have quoted around £350. Can i get a second hand fob and have it programed to my car from a Indy? Or is that too easy[:D]

Indy's can certainly do it. I had one a year or two ago. Was hellish expensive but not *that* much. FYI I use PCT in Coventry but Im sure all Indy's will be able to do it.

The basic "Service Key" is about £67 plus programming of the alarm control unit to match the immobiliser transponder in the key head. The Remote Head is up to £100, depending on model, plus programming of the alarm control unit to the Remote Radio Code. It is about half an hour's work, but I expect they charge for an hour. If you go to a decent indy, they should be able to do the job, but they will need a copy of your V5, and a letter from you to authorise them to get the Porsche IPAS security codes from PGB.

Tifor, No, no, no - it's not that expensive - at least not once you become a PCGB member! I had to get a new key for mine and did this at OPC this June with PCGB discount. They originally quoted about 250 less discount. The precice breakdown from my bill was:-

Supply of key: 59.91 less discount = 53.92
Supply of remote control: 88.80 less disc = 79.92
Labour to supply and code complete key = 0.5 hours less discount = 49.50

Total = 183.34 (+ the VAT comes to 215.42)

(so there's about £24 saving already for being a PCGB member)

Hope that helps,
Martin.

I was going to become a member shortly anyway but discounts are great news.
I think i will start ringing around and get some prices from OPC and Indys.
