spare parts cheaper at OPC

i've been hunting through the web for a few spare parts for my 944S2, I went to all the usual specialists as well as to ebay.

then

had to call into OPC Notts on my way home from somewhere, so i thought i'd see what the parts would cost via them... just about all of the parts i asked for including a drivers manual, came out (after PCGB discount) at about half the cost of anywhere else [:)]

Yeah, thats usually the case, I've bought most of my gear direct from them. After all, who do the other resellers buy it off?

Don't know if it works as well for Porsche parts, but I've had good luck on parts for my MB on www.partsreunited.co.uk where dealers list old stock they want rid of - you search by part number. I've picked up quite a few genuine MB parts at well below list price.

Cheaper by a mile for most things why do you think the independants like PS have done so well by praying on peoples reluctance to go to their OPC because they think parts will be silly money.

Most of the parts I bought I got from Nottingham OPC. They would ususally knock around 15% to 20% off for me so I never used the PCGB discount. Even if the price was slightly more expensive than other placed, say upto 10%, i'd rather get the parts from the OPC rather than other outlets to support the OPC. If parts sales totally dry up from the dealerships then that just adds weight to the bean counting accountants at Stuttgart to stop supporting the 944 with ongoing parts supply, then how many of us would complain if parts for these cars suddently become scarce. These are Porsches and you can't and shouldn't expect to run them on a shoesting. Support your local OPC!!

Though I was a bit miffed with them. After spending hundreds of pounds with them for spares over 5yrs or so (not to mention all the support for buying parts from them on forums such as this) I got nothing from them other than the discount talked about above. A mate of mine bought a private used Boxster (i.e. not from Porsche), dropped in for a set of mats then was offered either one of their driving courses at Silverstone or the use of a Cayman for a weekend. I feel I deserved a Cayman for a weekend after my loyal custom.

I tried to buy a new Wastegate Discharge pipe from the OPC as when I spoke to them it was only £10 more than the SH one on eBay, but when I got it they had ordered the wrong part and the correct one was actually 4x the SH part!

My local OPC parts department offered me a tax disc holder, when I visited them to pick up some parts, over the Christmas period! [:D]

The parts and service department at Leicester OPC is nothing short of superb, they like older cars and they are always quick finding parts i need for my 944s big or stupidly small, they have been very helpful with my racecar aswell finding an uprated clutch for me and then fitting it.Its main dealers like this that owners of older "classic" Porsches need,i am so glad Leicester my hometown has an OPC like this.
