Hi folks.
I've often wondered why the flat spare is carried around. If you need to use it, where are you going to put the road wheel to transport it back home.? I wouldn't fancy putting it on the leather seats and I doubt it would fit in the front compartment, especially the rear wheel. I always carry a motorcycle tyre repair kit. 99% of punctures are in the tread and I'veused them before with good results.

I think the idea is you put the tyre in the bag provided and place on the backseats. I have read that the front needs putting on the rear and the spare on the front if you have a flat but im not sure if this is true.

Hi Chris,

I had a flat last year whilst my car was at OPC West London for an inspection. Rear had gone.

I have a C2 Cab so am fortunate to have a pumped up spare. All they did was replace the flat with the spare and i was on me way to get a new tyre.

Was worried as the tyre is slim and was supporting the engine in the rear.

Going to OPC Reading on Saturday so am going to ask for just for peace of mind.

Good point Chris

I did have a tyre blow when a guy by the name of Richard Cranium (or Dick Head to his mates) forced me off the road and my rear caught at sharp edged cobble protuding from the edge of the road.

I was about 4 miles from home so put the spare on. I had to fold dowm the rear seats and put the damaged wheel in the back plus move my seat forward to accomodate. Wouldn't have enjoyed a long distance trip like it though and given you can rarely get tyres for the 911 off the shelf at tyre suppliers, the only option if you don't want to get recovered.
