the space saver spare wheel in my 944 is missing the means of inflating the tyre.. what should it have and where can i get a replacement.

You can normally find these at the Husborne Crawley Autojumble.

Or try the usual suspects (Simon Butterworth etc)

Compressor - Quite a nice (if rather large) all-in-one electric pump

You could get a staff discount on the air-and-goop-in-a-can until you find the right one[;)]

thanks Mark.

i've got a Halfords compresser/power pack which i'll carry around untill i find the right one for the car.

The problem with the space saver wheel is it is pretty difficult to deflate it back to its original shape.
Mine never deflated to its orignal radius and the boot carpet comes out of shape as the wheel does not fit as well as before.

there was one on e-bay recently Helen, so keep your eyes peeled there.

(If you can bear it ~ is there a slower interweb site????? [] )

Keep the spare and the inflator and the jack in the shed. Carry an AA card, its much much lighter!!!!![:D]

What about CO2 gas inflators?

They sell them for motor bikes so they must have enough pressure.

If these work they would be lighter, quicker and take up less boot space.

How many cartridges would it take to inflate a space saver?

Cheap at £3.99 for 3 (ever if it takes 6)

Anybody tried these?

Halfords do a cheap compresor which is smaller and lighter than the Porsche unit. I had a Porsche one but it was in a very poor state of repair and I didn't trust it to do the job should I ever require it.

I would be a bit hessitant with the tinned air and gloop as, if the tyre doesn't inflate properly in the first instance, you don't get a second chance.

PS I am much liking your new avatar Helen but it was a bit extreme swapping the front bumper just to get a good picture.

To deflate if you undo the valve centre and leave it out for a couple of days it should regain its shape, I found it unpleasant driving with a 255 on one side and the space saver on the other.
