spare wheel

Hello, I recently bought my first Porsche, a used 996 C4S of 2002 and it was missing the spare wheel. Not being informed that it normally had a collapsible spare wheel, I went on eBay and bought a normal 18 inch spare wheel with a normal inflated tyre. As expected, it does not fit under the face floor in the front boot, not does it the boot lid close if I try to fit it upright.
Does anyone know any tricks to make it fit? Is it worth trying to deflate it or is my only option to buy a new one?
Also, any thoughts on forgoing it altogether and keeping one of those foam kits? I have been avoiding it as understand that if I use it then it damages the tyre which could potentiality turn a small puncture into a large bill by having to replace both tyres on the axel.
Thanks.

Hi
you probably will not get a standard tyre to fit, the genuine spare is space saver with a low profile tyre fitted hence giving a smallish diameter.
