Spare wires/plugs!

Been fiddling around behind my ECU, and found a couple of mysterious wires/plugs that look like they should be plugged in but aren't. Probably better to leave well enough alone in cases like this, but anyone know what they are for, and if they should be plugged in. Has left me curious!

The first comes from a black box about the size of a cigarette pack (and is different to the main alarm box). Has a black cable with a 6 or 8 wire (can't remember which!) plug. The connecting plug is on a cable which seems to run towards the back of the car. Someone has disconnected it at some point and put some tape over one of the plugs, but leaves me wondering if its meant to be plugged in. Tried connecting it but made no obvious difference to anything. Have attached a picture. Anyone know what the story with it is???

Here's the other wire/plug that i found. Is an 8 wire black plug. I've seen one very similar somewhere else on the car, but can't remember where. Can't see anywhere obvious where it would plug into, but once again left wondering whether its meant to be plugged somewhere and what its for!

The scond one is like the under seat connector as Carl says, but they are also used under the dash to conect the door loom and under the bonnet in the scuttle area among (no doubt) other places.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Dunno what that one is for though - does anything not work? When these cars were made I imagine the loom had the connections for all the options and then some were just never plugged in.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Cheers Carl/Fen. Remembered as soon as you said about the under seat plugs. Thats where I had seen them before. At least that means I haven't unplugged it at some time and forgotten to replug it as it was the seat one I had seen and not this one!

Might try reconnecting the white one that had been previously unplugged and see if anything changes over the course of a week or so! Always interesting finding the little things that have been done in the past by former owners and wondering why!!!
