Spares for Le Mans trip?

So what should I take with me?

I've started a list...

  1. Spare DME relay
  2. Ignition lead or two
  3. Old dizzy cap
  4. PAS belt
  5. Alternator belt
  6. Plugs
  7. Oil
  8. Radweld
  9. Selection of fuses
  10. Bulbs
  11. Errrm...[8|]
  12. Corkscrew & bottle opener...
Answers on a postcard, no later than Thursday[:D]
 
Insulation tape - you can make beam convertors, fix hoses temporarily, and I usually make a little arrow for the inside of the windscreen - when I get back in the car after services etc. I think what the hells that! and then remember to drive on the wrong side.

Now where's your spirit of adventure..??!

The last time I went, it was lovely and sunny all weekend and I couldn't work out, on first arriving, why so many people seemed to have small cordless drills/screwdrivers... ...until I went to hammer my first tent peg into the ground that is...[:mad:]

I'm hoping that the weather is not like last year's torrential rain - I'll be sleeping in the car in that case[:)]
 
Sounds like a slightly pessimistic list, to be honest. Although I suppose it is better to be prepared than suffer ...

I have done about 25k miles in my S2 in the last two years, and it hasn't let me down once. (Not quite true - the immobiliser packed up on me very shortly after I bought it.) On that basis, if I was taking my car abroad, I'd be taking little more than a good tool kit and the very common culprits (DME relay and some fuses.)

(I do find that an AVO meter and a length of bulb wire is a very useful thing to have in the car at all times. And a gas-powered soldering iron. The majority of breakdowns I have encountered have been electrical - counting amongst cars that have been well maintained.)
