Spark Plug Change

Pickled Piper

I've just been scanning through a manual for my 993. It shows that you have to remove the rear mufflers in order to change the spark plugs. Is this always necessary? The reason I ask is that I recently fitted new mufflers (RSRs). When I did this it was apparent from the corroded bolts that my original mufflers had not been removed in a long time, yet the vehicle was supposed to have had a 48,000 mile service a few months ago when I first go it.

I would appreciate any comments, I may well be adding two and two and making five.

Cheers

You can change the plugs without removing the mufflers, but as it is a bugger of a job on two of the plugs I tend to leave and get it done when it is in for a service.

I replaced mine with the rear exhaust boxes in place. You have to remove a tin splash guard with a 6mm allen and try and work out a flexible way using extensions to get the plug out behind the PAS pump......the last one took a long time to do and much agonising..

I have heard of some instances where due to the hassle involved only 11 of the 12 plugs are changed.....have fun!
