im just doing a service on my car done all the plugs apart from one witch is playing up, it the left side first plut cant seem to get my socket out, do i need a special tool for this think the hole is a bit smaller, any help would be great as i just spent a 2 house on one plug

thanks

Hi ,
When you say you can't get the socket out do you mean it's stuck solid on the plug body or do you mean it moves but is difficult to remove due to poor access?
When I changed my plugs I remember that I found that the same plug was difficult mainly because the access hole is not in line with the plug or did not appear to be.
I used a box spanner to do my plug change.
If you socket is stuck solid I might be because the OD of the socket is too big and binding on the outside, whatever is the case causion is needed.
Cheers
John

hi thanks for the reply its not totally stuck i moves about i will try and wiggle it out as i bought a all in one socket today so hope full that will work

Hi (shame we don't know your name!),
I had the same problem, I solved by undoing the plug enough that it was loose but far enough in that the socket will still come out. I then use an old piece of fuel hose pushed over the top of the plug then unscrew it out.
The use of a piece of hose like that is also good to re-insert the plugs, it helps prevent getting the plug cross-threaded in the head (v. expensive to fix!!).
Good luck,
Paul.
