Spark plug socket

Usefully it seems that the spark plug socket included in my 944's toolkit was not intended for the S2 as it doesnt fit into the plug 'hole'[]. Is there a specific tool for getting the plugs out or will one of my plug sockets fit? Also will I require a torque wrench to put them back in?

Cheers

I don't know - will it? Why don't you try it and see, and let us all know!

I've never bothered to torque up plugs - just nipped them up tight. If you are nervous about doing this then a torque wrench may be a good idea tho'.

Edd,

It is a snug fit down the holes. But choose a thin-walled socket (ironically sometimes the cheaper ones have thinner walls than the more expensive ones) and go carefully. If it will go in then it will come out.

I have a teng toolkit and the sparkplug tool in there works fine. And that's nothing special.

If there is a rubber insert in the plug spanner it can be easier to take it out initially - this means you can "feel" that the socket is correctly engaged on the hex of the plug rather than "not quite" and rounding it off, making it nigh on impossible to remove. It also means that if you want to take the socket out again it releases from the plug, rather than staying put and the extenion coming off. Once the plug is loose, refit the rubber if you can't lift the plug out... I can't do this as I have lost the rubber!

Couldn't agree more with the above, the rubber piece inside can be more of a pain than a help.. Although a quick squirt of wd-40 usually helps it on and off the plugs rather than pulling it off the extension!

Tightening plugs is usually finger tight then 1/4 turn or something like that, should say on the box!

Ok so no it didnt fit, just got a cheapo one from halfords so going to fit my new Beru ulta x spark plugs with that.[:D]

Just fitted the DME chip, sorry couldnt wait for 26th July, was relatively easy, didnt know porsche used wood to make their cars!

Now just got the plugs and K&N filter to fit and I'm going for a blast up the A1...
