Hi

On my 986 3.2 that i had i went for the same brand that was in, Beru which you can get from Porschart or eurocar parts. Not worth it going cheap on plugs

Regards
Mike

Bear in mind that if you purchase from USA you will have to pay import duty on top.

Plugs are plugs - copper, V or U grove, Iridium, Laser - all just marketing hype - that companies use to attempt to demonstrate that theirs are better value, work better or have added value.
Get local, NGK, Bosch etc - all will work just fine as long as they are the correct temperature rating, all will last as long and none performs better than another (except in the marketing blurb)

Thanks for the tips, and good to hear from you Glyn.
Am thinking I should have done this job sooner, because have checked and
two spark plugs were changed in 2011,for some reason, not by me,by Autofarm service!
so am thinking I have four other plugs which may not have been changed for ten years plus.
Is there any technique in removing these?
May be it's better to warm up the engine as its Ali,the plugs are torque to 30Nm,have got the Snap on plug spanner so should be ok,but it's a new one 4me!
Will let u know how it goes![]

The plugs are simple - just time consuming because they are rather fiddly to get to some.
disconnect the electrical plug to each coil, undo two allen key bolts on each coil and simply work loose/pull out the coil, Plug socket on a 3/8 drive socket extension - and even better if you have a universal joint drive to connect another drive extension to connect to your ratchet drive to get the plugs out (some are pigs to manouvour to get out) - then reverse the procedure and plugs are done.

I simply use car ramps then lay underneath, no need to take of the wheels.

Just be really sure you re-connect the electrical connections to the coil packs properly - you need to push on really hard - you will hear a "click" as the locking connector snaps in place - many experience a misfire after plug changes because the connection isnt on properly.

If its a new job for you 2 hours should be allowed for, after that 1st time the next will take you about 30 minutes

Halfords are pretty good for NGK.Not sure they do the Boxster ones though, might be worth trying a local motor factors as well.I've also used Alan of Aceparts for NGK he advertises on E Bay. Alan used to be a Porsche owner, I think he has sold it now he is in Guernsey http://www.aceparts.com/

sorry not a teckie but would it not be wise to change your coil packs at the same time I got a service done at an OPC and they had to replace 2 just got the others done at same time as only £12 each as i recollect and no labour charge
