Always Bosch for me. Tried NGK etc but Bosch always seem to last better and give a more consistent spark.I found that NGK's would break down and cause the car to splutter at high revs. Also try GSF or Euro for parts.
 
Hi Chaps, getting ready for Snetterton in 12 days time, sorting out things, think I need new plugs.

I've been on Bosch WR5DC's same again? or should I consider something else?

Shall I buy on-line or Halfrauds?

I used NGK iridiums in my 944 racecar,changed dizzy cap and rotor arms alot aswell.I think whatever you fit fresh will be good and change them regularish for optimum performance and smooth running.Have a great race at Snetterton the wheels off rule is being strictly enforced there! Have a great season.
 
Thanks Colin & Mark, I think I'll stick to some new Bosch. Thanks for the warning, Mark, Tom & I are usually pretty tidy, slow maybe but tidy. [:)]
 
No worries,i was there the other day on a trackday and had a chat with the guys at race control,a wheel on the Kerb is ok,the bit that i find tricky is where there is just a white line its so easy to slip over and time penalties that could ruin a hard fought race are just my idea of hell,to get a result and have it taken away...[&:][&:]i am going to be giving this alot of thought this year so as not to slip up.Have fun and a great season any race reports or piccys would be great to read and look at[:)]
 
A good tip that I picked up on this forum was to get the best quality plugs that you don't mind throwing away regularly.
 
All is well Tom has found a trade discount and is getting some new Bosch WR5DC+ for £2 a pop, so he's on the job for 8. Yes I know what you mean Mark, the old Sears corner was always difficult as the apex kerb had big cowpat in it and if you clipped it the Caterham would always fly out to the rough concrete overrun on the exit. But Caterhams get very nervous when at the limit, all mechanical grip and sod all weight, the 944 is much better mannered. With the 944 if you're going to quick you can always lift a little, the Caterham swaps ends if even think about lifting. [:)]

You only need four spark plugs for a 944 [;)] I've used a few sets of Bosch WR5DC+ sparkplugs in my 968 with no problems. The best thing is, they're very cheap!!
 
+1 for Bosch. I use WR7DC+ on my turbo, went to change them last week after 8k miles and they were still in top notch order and car has never missed a beat. Threw the new ones back on the shelf for use at a later date! Used to change my NGK's every 5k miles or so and would get poor spark symptoms even before 5k miles with them. I will be using Bosch from now on. Stuart
 
My NGKs lasted in between the service (10k) with them being BPR6ESs. No issues at all. I am now on Bosch WR7DC+s and so far so good :).
 
WR5DC+ for my S2. Always used to be a pound a pop - are you sure that £2 each is a good price Jerry? Vauxhall dealers sell a vaux-boxed plug (plug 15 I think) which is a WR5DC+ - even branded 'Bosch' with the part number once you have it outside the box. I think these are still about a pound each. Changing plugs often is a good recipe for minimal ignition problems. 5k miles is probably shorter than necessary but it's a sensible interval for me. Oli.
 
Well Oli, Halfrauds want £22 for 4 Eurocarparts £8.64 + VAT so Tom's trade supplier via his work sounds about OKish. I think the WR5DC+ is the cooler plug from the WR7DC+ so being a motorsport application will require the cooler WR5DC+ So that's it really, haven't got too much time driving down to Snetterton Friday 11th. BTW you coming to Brands this year? It's 31st May. Tickets available FOC.
 
Gerry, Hmmmm, prices have gone up of late - I'm probably remembering prices from a number of years ago now. And yes, I do remember Halfords being very very expensive for spark plugs back when I had my old Golf. I've used Bosch Supafours for years now WR7-8's in the 924S & in a Rover Vitesse Sport Turbo -got at least 12k life & then they always looked like new when changed--they do seem to smooth out the big 4 idle lumpiness .
