speaker recommendations

Hello Folks,

I'm wondering if anyone has found a good, invisible upgrade for the speakers in the 993 having the std. audio system ? I've got a period 93 'ish Beckcer cascade headunit which I'd like to make the most of. Swapping between my modern audi and the 993, I'm never that impressed with the sound, particularly if I put the volume up a bit. I presume like other speakers, the 993 ones will have deteriorated over time, so ideally I'd like to replace the units in the doors and the rear speakers with something better that doesn't involve any modifications to the grills, etc. Failing this, I suppose I could try to source some replacement original units to see if that improves the situation - has anyone tried this route ?

Suggestions/experience gratefully received.

Have you looked at the Technical articles under Audio. Includes my simple speaker upgrade that was surprisingly successful.
 
Thanks for both replies. Very helpful and just the kind of stealth upgrade I'm looking to achieve.
