Speaker upgrade with Infinity 'plate' speakers ?

Hi,

I have read all the posts on upgrading the speakers in the dash and rear in my C4 and all the fun and games involved.

I have found that Infinity launched 4" mids and a 3/4" tweeter on one plate (see Kappa 462.7CFP).
This would appear to have advantages of the mid and tweeter already being held in place. I have the shop checking the distance from the middle of the mid to the middle of the tweeter to see if it will come anywhere near the tweeter grill. Assuming it does, the plate will also let you create your own holes to secure it to the grill with. SO that should be relatively straight forward.

The only thing I am unsure of is how to make them airtight and is that really necessary?

Anyone who has done the mod with other speakers let me know ?

Cheers

Stu

I fitted the 4" Bose drivers front and back. They are the ones found in their Bose 901 range.
I don;t have door speakers and found the infinity lacked any real grunt. The Bose drivers are punchy but you have to be careful how you wire them as they are 4ohm. They have good bottom
end but I also fitted a 10" base woofer into a half-cut base-tube which sits on my rear seat. The setup is driven from a Kicker amp fitted in the front bonnet.

The sound is fantastic and extremely punchy with excellent clarity even with the rag-top open!
