"Specialised Paint" - Reading

were they happy just to do the front PU? I have a few stonechips on mine and when I enquired at our local Porsche approved bodyshop they said they wouldn't quote for it as I would be able to tell it had been done - their solution being to do the bonnet as well, take the headlights out and blow it in to the top of the wings as well. I didn't want to do this as the bonnet and wings are fine - they have also never been painted before and, if possible, I would like to keep the car original.

I used them for work on my 993- quite a complex job on an arena red car- resprayed front PU, bonnet, half the front wings blending just to laquer toward the scuttle. They also did a door handle and the mirrors while they were at it, and got a dent guru to knock a dent out of the rear wing. They kept to their quote, and the car was only there for a week. Top job, top blokes and a useful 10% off for PCGB members...

They would have just done the PU, but decided to go the whole hog and glad I did.

Rob,

I just had the front PU done. The colour is Basalt Black. Specialised paint were very confident that they could match the colour without blowing over any other areas. I cant tell that it has been done. Give them a call to discuss with them.

I will be at Ragley so if you want to link up and see the results for yourself, then please let me know.

Regards, Jason

I had the alloys acid dipped, powder coated, smoothed/sanded and then resprayed.

The initail finish was a standard of quality that is acceptable by the OPC. The outer face was extremely good, although where the alloy rounds over towards the hub looked a slightly different shade, due to the smoothness prior to painting not being as good as the face of the alloy.

I was looking for a smoother finish all round (inside the alloy as well as the face) and so the guys rubbed them down again and repainted. They did this without any quibbles. The final result IMO is excellent.

As well as being impressed with the quality of the finish (alloys & front PU), the guys take pride in their work and want the Customer to be happy with the results. I will definately return to these guys for any future work needed on my car. [There were other local options in Swindon, but I still decided to go to these guys in Reading after I had maded my initial enquiries with them and visited them.]

Regards, Jason

Thanks Jason,
