Specialist advice?

Hi, I'm busy looking around for a specailist to check out the SC I'm looking at buying. I live in the North East (near Middlesbrough) I've phoned Red Line Racing and they were very helpful, they will do a check on the car at an estimated cost of £45, they will credit this against any work I have carried out. Specialist Cars of Malton have quoted £150+VAT but I have been warned off them.

Anyone know any others?

If you send me a cheque for a £100.00 Tim I'll consider your application.
Gavin check back someone from up North will maybe chime in later.

Thanks, I will. They guy seems reluctant to let me take it anywhere, whenever we've arranged something he's either ill or working, think I'll steer clear of that one.

as the thread is still a bit quiet ( not for long I'm sure) - have you thought about just asking the guy about his servicing 'cos if he has had it serviced regularly at the same place and if they are reputable you could go and see them or give them a ring and ask about the car. If they aren't reputable porsche specialists then I would take it as counting against the car. If it has been owner serviced then - OK but even more reason to have a proper independent specialist inspection. Of course if it has been serviced regularly by a good specialist your man shouldn't have any trouble with dropping it into them for an inspection should he!?

Good luck. It's worth the hunt and your instinct to be cautious is very healthy!

The guy has serviced it himself and to be fair to him he has an extensive knowledge of 911's. I know that for whatever reason the engine has been changed (by him) and that the interior is from a different car. (Both things that he has told me)
