There will be some very nice cars on the track and you will be able to try some of Johns fleet out (never the GT2 RS for some reason [8|])
If you fancy a cheaper option, Bookatrack are holding a track day just after the Specialist cars one. Myself and a few other R7 members are going to this one - you are more than welcome to join us if you want.
As for advice.
Get some tuition (there will always be an instructor at hand)
Take your time - its not a race
When you feel you can do a quicker lap - come off, you're getting too confident
Have respect for the slower and quicker cars

Perversely it is probably easier for me to get to a weekday event than a weekend one, since during the week I am not abandoning my wife to look after our three kids (all of whom are under 3!). However, it is tempting to go to the Bookatrack session, given that the Specialist cars day is an open pitlane. BUT on the flipside, there is the opportunity to drive some other cars and be driven in something fairly tasty with Specialist cars. Hmmm. Decisions, decisions!ORIGINAL: Jacob
Usually a very good day with some good grub to boot. Only downside are the dates - It's difficult for me to make the weekday trackdays.

Unfortunately I have been put on a spending ban and may only be off it in time for the Oulton Park day in November, so I might risk that one. Glenn, remember I've seen your driving, so that would also be a NO!!!!!!

Come and listen to my exhaust and your spending ban will be temporarily lifted (By yourself of course)

Has anybody taken part in any of the trackdays run by Specialist Cars before? They are running an open pitlane day on 18th May at Croft.
Also do you have any advice to a trackday novice for this?
Cheers,
Graham
I can't talk highly enough of the Specialist Cars day at Croft. Have done bookatrack and they are fine but SC's are exclusively Porsche which means a little less hooliganism and less risk to your precious 944. I have been to bookatrack days to see some complete nutters black flagged, spinning at every other corner, under taking, over taking and even the odd rolling. The SC days aren't full of grannies but if you have paid £500 for you 'trick' Sierrra Cosworth which you trailer to the track (and thus can trailer back) you drive with a little more abandon than your Zymolled porsche which then has to take you home.
Oh, and as someone esle has already said the grub is superb. Nearly worth the entry money for the lunch alone!
