Specialist Factor 0 - 1 OPC

Just a gentle reminder to always check the OPC prices.

I'm currently in the middle of doing a few jobs and found myself in need of a new fuel filter to feed line pipe, found a Porsche factor selling them at £40 and thought Oof thats a bit steep it's only an 8" rubber hose with a couple of fittings I'm sure I can find it cheaper, and sure enough OPC £17.

For what it is, I'm sure somewhere like Pirtek could've probably done it cheaper still.

I'm not sure how many times some of us on here have to say this

ALWAYS GET A PRICE FROM THE OPC BEFORE YOU BUY ELSEWHERE.ESPECIALLY IF YOUR BUYING SECOND HAND FROM ONE OF THE SPECIALIST BREAKERS

Sorry I don't rant often but the price of parts from some sources really annoys me.

It's fair enough that new owners are sometimes liable to assume either that a PC will not carry parts for the older models, or will be ridiculousy expensive.

Always call a PC first. Glenn at Leicester is the obvious person to go to with his knowledge and passion for the 944.

Then, you at least have the new price to hand, or know something's NLA. With this in mind, check out the prices from people listed in the faqs as specialists in new or used parts. Post a "wanted" ad here as well.

Lastly, if all else fails, take a risk on ebay.

There's always some parts that have alternative brands, or are generic brands that Porsche can't sell cheapest. You wouldn't go to them for tyres, fuses, standard screws or bolts for example. Specific parts, though, are often a better deal new from them than used from ebay chancers.
