Specialist garage in or around Cambridge

Hi all,
I've just taken ownership of a 1992 968 Coupé and am looking for a garage I can use in Cambridge or surrounding area for servicing etc. I know of (and have spoken to) the guys at Barr-Tech, but do any of you have any recommendations?
Cheers,
Tom

By far the most knowledgeable and expert wrangler of 944s and 968s whom I have found within easy reach of Cambridge is Andy at Promax, just the other side of Milton Keynes.

Worth mentioning also that OPC Cambridge has a better attitude to older cars than most OPCs, and the service manager has been there since the cars were current.

Ive not used them myself, but I am intrigued about how they are, TWG sport in Peterborough maybe worth a try, like I said ive not used them but I really would like to hear other members experiences with them, Cambridgeshire does not have enough Porsche specialists, where as Oxfordshire is spoilt for choice.[]

p.s
TWGsport are in the Porsche post as specialists for Cambridgeshire.

Cheers all.
I've spoken to Bare-Tech who have quoted £65/hr for labour and are getting back to me re service costs. I'm going to check Cambridge OPC too and go with one of them this time around as being in Cambridge they're the most convenient for me. Let me know if you know of any reason to avoid either, otherwise I'll let you know how I get on!
Cheers,
Tom

You can obtain cheaper rates from the OPC at Cambridge by being a member of the Porsche Club[;)]

So, I decided to take the car to Barr-Tech in the end. They were considerably cheaper than the OPC and are far more convenient for me, being round the corner from where I work rather than in a village on the other side of the city. For the benefit of others, their comparative list prices follow:

OPC Cambridge
Labour: £79/hr
12k service: £350
24k service: £510

Barr-Tech
Labour: £65/hr
12k service: £245
24k service: £415

I took the car in yesterday and picked it up this morning (as I couldn't get there last night) and have to report a good (if mostly uneventful) experience. They serviced the car and gave it a good look over (as I've just bought it) and were straightforward about what might need looking at in the future, without suggesting what "needs" doing now, which was partly my fear. The calibre of cars they have down there is a nice indication that they're trusted (like the Dino sitting out front and the Merak being worked on), and there are some great pics of the refurb work they've done in the past. I guess I'll be going back there again when MOT time comes around (and hopefully not before)!

The 2002 Carrera 4 i bought from Cambridge Car company a year ago, was 'supposedly' serviced regulary by Bar Tech! When it went into the local Porsche dealer to have it serviced recently (my first) they kept the parts to show me how bad they were, they confirmed that the Air Filter, Fuel Filter were the originals (9yrs old!!!) They had never been changed although on the service records (invoices, bills etc) over the last 4 years they 'supposedly' had been along with various other service requirements! The opinion of the Porsche service centre was that it hadn't been serviced properly for years!

My concerns over the car were raised with Cambridge Car Company after only a couple of weeks of owning the car as a few things started to go wrong, when the vehicle was checked the 3 of the coil packs were cracked and rusty, the rear tyres were down to the metal on the inside, i will never use either company again.
