Nearly got my first 911, a late 89 3.2 targa.

Need to get the car inspected, seller recommended Red Line Racing, are there any other specialists around that area people would recommend for doing purchase inspections??

btw. Car's in Durham.

If you travel the distance, Tom Ferguson in Newcastle on Scotswood road is the best. No other person will give you a good service

Darren Brown Motors (Ryton, North of Newcastle) have looked after all of my cars (Porsche and others) for the last 20 years. Wouldn't go anywhere else. I've heard too many stories about other places.

You may not be aware BTW that Newcastle OPC is offering 50% discount for club members on servicing of cars over (I think) 7 years old. Ring OPC Newcastle and ask for Michael French.

thanks for the info OPC are offering 50% off cars over 6, but when i asked Michael about this at a car club night he said that you may have to leave the car for a couple of days as they would fit it in when they weren't busy.....this doesn't fill me with confidence on the quality of the service it would receive.

I don't think that the quality of work would be a problem. The reason the discount is available to 'older' cars is that generally speaking they are not used on a daily basis so owners are generally happy enough to leave the car with the dealer for a few days... and, as Michael says, the work is done when time allows. If you wanted to the car done 'same day' then I would doubt that the discounted rate would apply.

Has anyone with an older car on the Forum used JCT recently and can comment on the service they received? I am sure I'm not the only one who would like to know of folks' experiences.

In my experience JCT are a typical Main Dealer.With my older car i prefer to use the good independents mentioned.

Recently had geometry set up by Redline. Good job done by Porsche enthusiasts who know their onions! Also had shocks fitted by Tom Ferguson and very pleased with his service too.
