Specification cut off times?

Hi
I placed an order with my local OPC for a new Boxster S end of Feb and would like to add one or two small cosmetic items to the spec sheet (aluminium pack and centre console in alu look) but I have had little joy getting feedback or even contact from my OPC salesman, despite trying to contact him by phone and letter for 3 weeks now.
He says that build will be in June, with delivery in July, but cannot give me a firm date (for some reason). I have asked him of it is possible to add these items but he says he thinks maybe not (but again cannot be sure).
Does anyone know how many weeks before build the spec sheet has to be confirmed?
I cannot find a phone number to contact Porsche GB, so I'm relying on good info from the forum.
Unfortunately, the salesman doesn't seem to know much!
Thanks

If your OPC doesn't know whether you can or can't change your order then I don't think there is much hope to be honest.

My salesman couldn't tell me exactly about build dates until about 2 weeks before. We did agree though that it would be a May build for early June delivery. In fact 2 weeks ago he rang to say it would go into production today. Turned out Finland got a spurt on and it went on yesterday. He can track it from now on though, all the way to handing over to me. Incidentally, it looks like mine will be here 2 weeks early (So everyone go across to the sales page and get buying my Gaurds Red '02 2.7, or I shall be forced to sell my body. And that doesn't bare thinking about[:D]).

There must be change freeze put on orders that are coming close to the build date, simply for logistics. I would guess that up until an actual build date has been confirmed, then you could make adjustments. I am only guessing though.

Thanks Tony
More or less what I suspected, although I wasn't sure if I was just being given a load of flannel from my less than enthusiastic OPC salesman.
I guess it could be added by the OPC when it arrives, so all may not be lost.
Cheers
Rob

You're right Rob, the alu pack won't be a show stopper if you want the OPC to fit it. Adding something like PASM or PCCB brakes would be impossible past the "spec final" date. More importantly, the attitude your sales guys has shown seems very poor. You can excuse 1 missed phone call, but repeated calls and letters over 3 weeks! You may advise him that while he may not think c £40k is much money, it is to you, and unless he treats you with a bit more respect, you would like to deal with a different sales guy.

Hi I ordered a boxster S on 1st april and was told I would be kept up to date with order process and that the initial spec was not that important as this could be changed anytime until production guess what received a letter on 11th april to say they needed me to phone them to confirm spec tried phoning and leaving messages for over two weeks in this time received letter confirming car was going into production had to resort to email in the end and it took them 4 days to reply with its to late to change spec we want another £700 on top of the factory price for coloured wheel centres and a hardtop I don't think so still waiting to find out whats happening as they were trying to phone porsche to change spec ???????????

Thanks for the feedback folks
At the very least it's good to know that mine isn't an isolated case!

Finalised my specification first week January 05 on a February build car which was delivered to dealers and set to jet by March 10th. Then lost a whole week through a phantom alarm problem that wasn't don't ask [] and I finally drove off into the sunset on 17th March.

If I was in your boat I would definitely be writing to PCGB Customer Services and advising them of the 3rd class Porssche Experience so far. Good Luck and the phone number you want is ... 01189-303666

To add not much joy, I'd be wary of having trim fitted after the car is built, because (1) the cost of the parts is ridiculous and (2) the cost of fitting is ridiculous!

I wanted the aluminium look strip fitted in the dash - parts were around £120, and fitting needed 8 hours at £90+VAT per hour. Decided to stay with the black one.

Thanks Andrew
Yep, that certainly seems an eye-watering amount for what is after all, basically a few bits of shiny plastic.
I guess I'll just have to learn to live with it (or wait until some of the after market chaps devise an economically viable alternative) as like the rest of us, I hate to get ripped off.
That hourly rate does sting eh - ouch!!
