Specing up an '05 Boxster

For those of you with a new hardback book, can you check something for me. Unless you know the answer anyway.

I know that the new 2.7 has got Air-Con as standard and there is an upgrade option to climate.

What about the S? It used to have climate, has it still or has it been downgraded to Air-con with a climate upgrade option?

"S" has been down graded too [&o] so climate is an option for £308 []

And what about the alarm situation?

If I read correctly, the S has lost the internal sensors, and the 2.7 has lost the entire thing. Has anyone got a price for this?

I've noticed as well, that the Lapis Blue 2.7 has the basic S wheels and the S has got the 19". Obviously trying to make them look more sexy.

As luck would have it, I actually prefer the basic S 18" wheels.

[8D]I prefer the standard 18" wheels too so that should save some ca$h.

The "S" alarm system is on Page 67 of Hardback Catalogue and it seems you could be right about the internal monitoring being optional on the "S" and the complete package an extra on the 2.7.

Can't quite figure what is meant by "powerful alarm system with exterior monitoring function" I would think this hardback may not be specific to UK Spec cars as I have a price list and the alarm system is not listed anywhere which one would assume is because like previous years on UK cars its standard fit [&o]

Robert,

have you the options price list, if so, will you post it please? I forget to ask when I got the book - I was too busy paying for two services and organising a demo of the Cayenne - but we have now gone back to looking at a new Boxster

The book is not UK specific.

This means that options standard in the UK are not necessarily standard everywhere eg: Leather Seats on S, top-tint screen, thatcham approved alarm. These go some way to making up the difference between UK price and that elsewhere (although I'd rather have the option...)

Some markets don't require an alarm, UK insurers do, so another thing to be careful of when importing...

There are spec changes dependant on market. Some don't even get the option to buy certain items even though the factory says they are available - for instance you could not buy GT3 seats when ordering your (pre 2005MY) Boxster in the USA even though they were available here in the UK. Porsche Cars North America decided not to offer them.

Complicated isn't it? And another reason your book might say one thing, but your salesman say another.[&:]
