Some clown in todays Sunday Times is trying for list + £10K premium on his 997 "S" As there are so many to chose from for a lot less money on week 1 I think the poor sod has wasted his money advertising :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Attended the launch in Kent on Thursday.Salesman quoted delivery in 13months for the Carrera. The add may appeal to someone with more cash than sense.

Dealerships have been given their initial allocation, but all will hope for more. Some people will drop out and some will switch to the new Boxster. Dealers will quote long delivery times because it helps to make the product more desirable.

Far more sensible to spec ones own car and wait a little while than to pay a premium for someone else's spec and an early production model.

So your OPC has sold all his MY05 allocation and is now working on MY06!!! In his dreams IMO [&o]
Popped into local OPC this afternoon to checkout 997 & 997S and they quoted me June delivery for either model.

Not one single bit ... I don't need token rear seats I have those in my daily driver [:D] I don't need 0-62 5.00secs I can live with 5.5 secs quoted for the 987 "S" especially as I can't recall the last time I went from 0-62mph and certainly can't recall when 0.5secs altered my life / journey ever!! :ROFLMAO: and finally I am a BOXSTER lover [8D]

I popped into OPC in Chiswick who said June/July for 997 and the 987 Boxster - he did also say that they had a few Dec build 997's available too. I'm tempted to get a used 996 C4S and wait until the initial build issues and options availability settles before committing although I would like to see the 987 first. Descisions, descisions.

Anyone paying £10k over list for a 997 not to their spec needs their head examined!

Paris Motor Show 25/9/04 to 10/10/04 You can see and touch it [:D]

Like Ian I was at the Tonbridge launch and the "party line" that night was that "all we have available is a std 997 tip build slot in Sept '05" - so I guess I will look elsewhere.
Another thing that p*ssed me off was the lady with the tag labelled "Accountant" allocating slots for test drives - she would only give you a date/time if you were a deposit holder !! - otherwise your name went on the list for someone to call you back!! - I would have thought they could have established whether you were an existing customer and therefore maybe genuine rather than just another tyre-kicker...needless to say, so far noone has called - Yet another disappointing customer service blunder methinks.
When I get satisfaction on the C4 settlement I will order elsewhere......

Spoke to Tonbridge yesterday. They informed me that 2005 allocation are all sold. Not to worry I think I'll go and place a deposit on another Boxster.

Adrian,
Yes, the snacks were quite good......it was difficult occasion to meet people really - I should have had a T-Shirt with a picture of my car done!!! - also liked the Turbo and the GT3 - although thats been there for some time now - maybe they'll take an offer?
I would like to see a 997 in Guards Red in the flesh - all the launch cars seem to be either grey or silver.

They very usefully transported my car to Reading for further investigations last Tuesday however even that has not been without dramas as upon requesting the return of my tax disc to do the cherished plate transfer - its gone missing!!!! - I can't believe how many twists this saga is going to take....there is a pow wow of engineers from my insureres, the OPC liability insurer, PGB engineers and someone alledgedly independant getting together next week to point fingers and decide who pays..
BTW - I think the "look" of the new workshop is very impressive, I just hope that they staff it well.....
Dave

Went down to Tonbrige lunchtime today on the off chance. Both manual and tiptronic demos were sitting in the car park.Took out the tiptronic for the best part of an hour. Was not disappointment.A lovely car and so easy to driive.Left a deposit for a Boxster which I will transfer to a 997 for early 06 if disappointed with the Boxster.

No one in their right mind should pay a premium for a 997.

[]November 7th 2004 and todays ST Motoring section has plenty of 997's {both variants}UK Supplied delivery mileage at list price! but even more disturbing there are several UK delivery miles on offer at BELOW list! That bubble sure burst quicker than expected by the speculators [&o] despite OPC's saying that the MY05 allocations are all done & dusted. :ROFLMAO:

i've always enjoyed a fantastic service from mid sussex porsche. i got to test drive a 997 just by asking to look inside one. very nice people.

i thought the 997 was too easy to drive and the S too expensive! i like a bit of rock and roll for my money.
