Speed and Reference Sensors

I've just been looking at parts availability for the speed and reference sensors for my engine rebuild.

My old sensors had super brittle cables which had broken at the top of the sensor, and I think one of the sensor bodies got damaged on removal.

I managed to pick-up a brand-new BMW sensor some time ago but understand this has a pretty long cable compared to the other alternative.

Upon looking at the online Bosch catalog I found a new part number; the picture looks a bit like some of the other "cheaper" alternatives on ebay and Autodoc.

Porsche Part Number is 94460611500

I'm aware of the following Bosch part numbers (as I'm sure some of you guys are)

Original Porsche - 0261210003

BMW option #1 - 0261210002 (slightly longer cable)

BMW option #2 - 0261210001 (longer cable than option #1)

New Bosch part number (appears to fit many vehicles, so more of a "universal" sensor, possibly long cable)
0986280799

Found the new part number when searching for the old Bosch part number for genuine Porsche sensor.

Anybody else purchase sensors recently? I might just buy the new Bosch ones and see how they are (less than £50 each).

You'll be able to hide excess cable down behind the bulkhead quite easily. I had a look a while back and some cheap ones were about £20, probably Plasticine :ROFLMAO: . My originals are still good thankfully although I remember once many years ago having to wiggle one to fix a non-start. Hasn't happened since.

I’ve just (yesterday) refitted my reference sensor bracket and swapped out the sensor for a BNIB I had in the drawer - an FAE metal bodied sensor that was about £25 to replace the same one that was in there and had been working faultlessly.
