Speed limiter

I appear to have an audible speed limiter on my car, in that when I reach 3-figure speeds I get this really annoying squeal from my speedo. Naturally, I have an extremely long private drive up to my 1970's detached house[:D] - officer! Has anyone else suffered a similar annoyance, and what was the cure? Replacing the cable, lubricating it somehow, or getting at the guts of the speedo itself?
Cheers,

Graham

I haven't had the problem but the S2 has an electric speedo so you can discount the cable.

I never heard of a speed warning on the cars and can't imagine a Porsche owner actually installing one.

I wonder if it could be the odometer binding or getting ready to go? If you press the trip counter to reset when the car is moving you really stress the gears, though usually the plastic gear just snaps into pieces and you lose the odometer altogether.
