I have a Road Pilot, which is GPS based. It does show SPECs and beeps all the way through them. As I'm sure you know All Radar detectors are likely to be banned before the end of the year, nor would it of alerted you to SPECS, which is average time/distance=speed..

Thanks Gary. It is going to be illegal to own them or to use them?

James
To use them, THEM being radar detectors or jammers. GPS only road safety warning systems (New Labour Speak) will still be legal so a Road Pilot for example will be street legal and a great aid to safer motoring [;)]

Also look at the Road Angel, either the classic or the latest model. Both very reliable.

Also look at the Origin b2 (http://www.originb2.com/) for a complete "plumbed in" install. No wires running anywhere that can be seen and also has a laser detector with it in the standard kit and if you want to be naughty will interface with add-on laser jammer and / or radar detector.

If you are not up on jammer law and on-going court battle to make all non-gps based systems illegal (as they are in mainland europe) see http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/jamlaw.htm

I have the same device in my 997 and has never failed me yet....

With the origin B2- where in the 997 do you mount the screen ? - does it look OK? - any chance of a picture ?

Hi

I fitted a micro pilot to my recently departed 996. Mounting it on the steering column cowel was easy and in direct line of sight of rev counter etc . The GPS receiver was placed near the licence disc and the wires hidden under the dash. Hot wired the entire unit.

My 997 cab is due in a week or so and hope to install in similar postion. If you are interested will take photos.

Good thing about the micro-pilot is u can get a second base unit which I plumbed into my weedday car (Jag x type 2.6) so can move the head easily from one to the other.

The wife has her own micro-pilot in her XC90 and loves it.
