Anybody got any pictures or could take pictures of original, unrefurbed 993 RS Speedlines to show the correct position of the Speedline etching ?

Ben,

Sadly I no longer have the stickers on my wheels...... I recall the ET and wheel width iis either side of the valve hole and from memory the speedline from Porsche was directly opposite the valve hole,...something like this..

Hopefully if RSR9 takes a break from polishing his own wheels he will give you a proper response [:D]

I have an original set complete with stickers. If you can wait a week or so will take some pics as am away on business until next week.

I am in Gloucestershire if you want to take a look at them.

Thanks chaps......

The Speedline outer shoulders shown on the FVD website, are these the Cup car ones ?? For some reason got it in my head that the cup cars ran slightly different offsets from the RS.

Mike, thanks very much for the offer to have a look at your wheels. I would take you up on the offer but bit of a trek from Bermuda where I live at the moment ! Pics will have to suffice. I got my wheels refurbed ages ago by a guy called Biagio. He does a lot of Fuchs and solid rims, less so three piece. I used him because I knew he could get the anodising done. To be honest, I wouldn't use him for the 3 piece again - he did a good job eventually but took a long time, wasn't happy with the colour of the centre spider the first time round, couple of rims leaked air etc etc. Fuchs refurbishing different case- there are few better.

I've heard good reports from people who have had their wheels done by someone called Adrian who is based in the North somewhere. Think he can do the anodising and believe he can also re-etch the Speedline script. I've got his card on my desk at work but pretty sure RivieraM002 ( Steve ) will have his details.

Cheers.

Ben the cups are slightly different , but u can still buy just the outers all with writing on at very reasonable money ..................Adrian is good ,think he can actually do the etching ............................

Vic, do you mind letting me know where you can still buy the rim with the correct offset and etchings from? FVD ones are ET61 and not 65 for the RS Speedlines.

Harry

Pal of mine in Germany bought a set of outer rims only for me for the Cup Car in last 6 months .direct from Porsche .

Ben,

I bought a set from Olav who had refurbished them complete with logos and offset. Give him a call.

The wheels were etched, rubber valve stems and lead weights on the shoulder of the wheels ... this wheel had done around 2000 miles from new ....

And the etching is opposite the valve stem --- to dead centre --- and the wheel size and offset are etched adjacent to the valve --- well they are on my mags.

Whilst on the subject of Speedlines, I know of some 993 GT2 genuine speedlines for sale, a full set of four plus 2 rear wheels,
I have photo's if anybody is interested.

Front Cup Mag 8.5J 18 ET53, RS Ali 8J 18 ET52

Rear Cup Mag 10J 18 ET60, RS Ali 10J ET65

Does anyone know of someone in the UK who can restore these wheels properly AND get the Speedline for Porsche etching done? I have yet to find someone who can.
