Speedo needle and MPG needle glitchy

Since getting my 944 I've noticed that the speedo needle is very sluggish. Basically after leaving the driveway on a morning I get at least ten seconds down the road before the speedo moves off the bottom. Accelerating forcefully seems to encourage it to get up to the right area (although like most, it is about 10% 'low'). Even when the car has warmed up, after moving from being stationary (say, at a junction) it will do the same again and sit at the bottom before suddenly shooting up to 30/40mph.

More recently, the mpg needle has stopped moving altogether. I realise its pointless anyway but its just one of those niggles which I would like sorted (especially while I have lots of the dashboard out). If I tap of the clock unit the needle will jump but that's it.

Do any of these issues sound familiar to anyone on here? Neither is a big problem but it would be nice to get them done.

Cheers.

I would clean the dash contacts first and grease them up with an electrical grease of sorts (Maplin should have something).

In the past this has cured iffy dials for me :).
