Speedo stopped working...

Hi - can anyone one help? The speed just stopped working on my 1985 lux. There was some clicking (related to road speed) for a few minutes after it stopped working then nothing.

Any ideas? Not sure if these early cars are cable operated or electrical? Couldn't see a cable & found nothing on Clarks so any help gratefully received!

If it is an early dash it is a simple cable that is a push fit into the N/S hub, goes through a square hole in the hub cap held in place with a small clip on the outside.

You are best to remove steering wheel, stalks and instrument panel.

A bit of a pain bet the cable is only abt £10
