Speedy repair of cuts in underseal

Guys, just spotted that in the past week my 968 has picked up 2 cuts in the underseal. I am a bit miffed about it TBH because when we where working on the car I took extra care to make sure we didn't damage any of the underside but I know who did it [:mad:]. Can't get to angry as he worked for free and anyways this has only just happened and peeling it a back a little to look it is totally clean and unmarked apart from the 2 very small cuts.

So then is there a quick fix I can do perhaps spray something on to keep the bit of underseal that is cut, flush on the chassis rail?
 
You can buy pots of brush-on gloopy underseal from places like Halfords. I have a pot (that I think is branded by Waxoyl) that I brush on the jacking points every now and then when they get a bit threadbare
 
Cheers Paul, brush on sounds ideal as all it needs really is something that will bond it back over the panel and stop grit etc getting in there.
 
I had splits in the underseal on the underside of my Lux and I just peeled off the loose stuff and retreated using spray on underseal which did the job a treat[:)]
 
Have wondered about using silicon, the underseal is more rubbery (and whiter when clean) than most and I haven't found one similar so far - maybe its a wurth product?

My local motor factor sell underbody schutz with waxoyl in a spray can, good but messy, wear gloves !
 
Dont use "underseal" or schutz and certainly not sillicone!. porsche's are protected by masses of high quality seam sealer/ stonechip paint. On the chassis rails I would use a brushable seam sealer (available from paint factors or Frost catalogue). Seal sealer lasts much better than underseal and is overpaintable within ~1hr. You can then touch up with body coloured paint.

If you mean to repair/replace the original underseal then why ever not? It is what it is designed for. Schutz is great stuff and resists stone chips etc. If its overpainting your after then use an overpaintable stone chip spray so you get a decent thickness and avoid brush marks but I for the life of me cannot imagine anyone will be overpainting underseal anyway.

Waxoyl is fine too but is more prone to stone/impact damage. I use it where stone and impact damage isnt an issue and also simply go around nuts bolts and exposed areas with some tipped into a container and brush/touch up as required as it protects open thread ends and rust proofs and kills rust, great for brake/petrol lines and connectors/unions.
 
you lot make me feel inadequate sometimes....even as I write this the salt is slowly eating away at my car through all the gaps in the underseal that I've never attended to, and all my bolts & pipes are corroding at a rate of knots [:(]
