Split in rear Window

Guest

New member
Hello, new person asking on behalf of someone else as they have no internet access!

My Father has a 2000 2.7 and has managed to split the rear window of his Boxster while lowering the top on Sunday and it was at the least 5 deg C so not sure it was that cold!

Do any of you know of a service that will just sew in a new placky window to save on the cost of a new soft top?

Has anyone else managed to split one? I was surprised when he told me as it's the sort of thing I expect on a 1979 spitfire not a £30k+ car.

Many thanks and grateful for any tips.

Simon

Unfortunately this is a "design defect" in pre. 03 models. Several OPC's have access to repairers who can just replace the window for an apparently reasonable sum. Certainly Porsche Nottingham can offer this service and the results are apparently very good

Morale: Either get a hardtop, 03 Model car, or just don't lower the roof between December and March!!

This is the quote fro OPC;

Mr K Pass

It is possible to replace the rear window for your Boxster.
the cost for this repair £645.00 plus VAT £112.87. Total repair £757.87

Unfortunately due to the age of your vehicle it is not possible for this cost to be coved by warranty.
If you should accept is estimate we will require the vehicle for 2 days.

Thanks for the tips though I'll get him to call around.
