split nuts

Hmm

as i undid the hood today the bit of plastic that holds the interior light, 2 alarm sensors and the hood latch came away.

Simple i'll just screw it back on...... (the screws are under the alarm sensor covers)

But they won;t tighten as the nuts inside the windscreen frame are both split and won;t grip the screw.

Guessing someone has overtightened them and caused this (the screw heads show signs of previous use).

The issue is how on earth do i get the nuts replaced (i can't see anyway of getting to them)

Hi got a reply from the guys on boxa.net. Seems its not an uncommon thing.

But only way to fix it is to drill out the old nuts and replace with some blind rivet nuts. (there is not access to replace the nuts + they are split brass nuts so only a matter of time before it happens)
