split rear seat bracket

Hi all

I've won on ebay the split rear seats , Porsche option number M685, I need the bracket that fits below the middle of the bottom section to allow the inner hinges of the top two peices to operate. Does anyone here have this bracket that's no longer of use to them or does anyone know the Porsche part number. I did try earlier today to find the part number and price but West London Porsche didn't call me back as promissed, I suspect they failed to find the info themselves.. lol
Alternatively if anyone can supply an accurate drawing of this component I could fabricate one myself.

Thanks in advance for any replies.. oh and sorry for being a stranger in recent months...:)

Does this require modifying the shell to fix the middle brackets? I have never looked up close how it was made...[8|]

Having now removed the lower seat i would say yes you do, i've ordered the parts listed above ( thanks Tom..[:)])from an OPC, two of these will take a couple of weeks which is ok.
Can someone who has the split seat fitted please take a look under the plastic covers and tell me if the parts I've ordered are the only ones that I need.

It's difficult to tell in the PET diagram , I was assuming that the middle part is bolted to the chassis( yes this will need drilling) but since all the parts ( 6 in total, 3 for each side) cost less than £8 I'm wondering what these are made of, are they only plastic bushes that fit into another unkown metal braket?
Of course it could just be that the price's have been reduced for an old car and the middle part is indeed a metal item of some strength??

so split seat guy's.. what do you think?...[8D]...

I have a split seat and fittings in the loft somewhere (which means I will only ever find it by accident, so can't photograph them for you!),but I recall there is a plastic "saddle" which fits onto two studs welded onto the "floorpan", plus a whole bunch of other little bits - I took the easy route and fitted a one piece rear seat, as I don't think the studs were in place on a non-split seat chassis.

Thanks Tref .., I have dry fitted the seat now and can see that the parts that I have ordered must be all that's needed as there's very little room there, certainly not enough to fit any other bracket in. Studs makes sense as it would be a simple thing then to unto the bracket for removal. Once I receive the parts I'll line them up for drilling and then secure with two bolts.

Many Thanks

Pete

No if your car is model year 1987 or newer. Car with one piece rear seat have two bolts welded to the car body. There should also be plastic covers to protect these bolts if they are not in use.
My 1988 and my son's 1987 951's with one piece rear seat have these bolts installed.a 1986 parts car 951 i had did not have them.

Hi Oli

Thanks for the info, that explains why my 1986 car doesn't have the studs.. no probs my son has the kit that allows me to fix two studs there very professionally and very easily, I'm assuming these studs are 8mm, I will need to get the adapter and studs for this to fit my sons kit as he only bought them up to 6mm, he didn't need 8mm at the time...lol

thanks for the pic Oli... strange though as I had assumed that the studs would be side by side rather than in line, a little confused when considering the PET diagram but once I have the parts I'll be able to wok out what's what.

Yep, my car is an '86 as well, which explains why the studs weren't present.
