Spoiler warning light!

Guest

New member
I am just about to pick up my 2000 Boxster S, and when I visited the garage last time, I was informed that the warning light on the dash for the spoiler, stays lit until 50mph, then goes out if it works, if it doesnt, it stays on. Is this right? Could some one let me know exactly what should happen and when, just incase I need to question?

Many thanks,
Peter

Utter rubbish.
The spolier warning light will ONLY come on if there is a problem with the spolier.

Apart from that it will usually light for a second or 2 when starting up just to check the bulb on the light.

If the light is on when you are driving then there is something wrong with the spoiler.

As Greig says (who beat me to the answer[:D]) This is wrong.

It should only light up once moving if the spoiler does not deploy (threfore warning you not to drive fast, as there is more lift, and therefore less mechanical grip with the road)

Hi all,

JFYI,

Found out that the light WILL stay on when all others go out, when you start driving it will go out at 5mph, if it don't, theres a prob!

Thanx to all who replied!

Peter

Mine either Mark! The spoiler warning light on my 2.7 comes on for a few seconds when I start the car up and then goes off whether i'm moving or not.

Good luck with the new car though - i'm hoping to get an S this year and am very envious of you!

Hi All,

Bizarre!!!

On my 2001 996, spoiler light stayed on until I reached 5mph...
But
On my 2003 996, spoiler light comes for a few seconds (when I start the engine) and then goes off!!!

Cheers,

Fab

I have a 01 S and the light only lights up for a few seconds on start up then goes out.[8|]

Same here. And that is what my version of the manual says it should do.
Do others manuals say 5MPH? Maybe they changed it?

I'm guessing about the 5mph but it does not extinguish until the car is in motion.

It does actually go out at 5mph the same time as the doors lock.
