Spongey Brake Pedal after change to SRF

All,
Had my brakes fluid changed a few weeks ago for Castrol SRF race fluid.

Intially the pedal felt nice and firm. I then parked the car in my garage for a oouple of weeks and on driving the car again noticed that the pedal felt softer than before the change.

The brakes work fine on track and I can lock up the front wheels before I get to the bottom of the travel but I don't like the spongey feel of the pedal. I compared my car with some others at Donington on Sunday and some cars have a similar pedal feel to mine whilst others are completely solid (as mine was before).

The car is going back into the shop this week (well known local 911 specialist in the UK), what should I be asking them to check? [FONT=verdana,geneva"]
If there is some air in the system would it be in the actual braking circuit or the pressure assist curcuit? - can this be bled separately? Also I wonder why it was OK when I picked it up but then went "spongey" after having been stood in my garage for a couple of weeks?[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=verdana,geneva"]Thanks in advance for any help,
Kevin.[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

Hi Kevin , thats a bit of a mystery. All I can say is that my car gets maintained at the same place as you and they regularly replace my fluid which has been SRF for past 4 years , but never experienced anything like you describe. Prior to using SRF I used to get some dribbling out of fluid when brakes got really hot on a trackday (?expansion) and a bit of a soft pedal if I went out soon after a short period of being parked up in the pits - probably caused by heat soak , soon recovered after a bit of circulation. But since switching to SRF this went away or maybe I'm braking less [;)] Best of luck !

Well, had the car into 9m and Colin himself was good enough to take the car out - his verdict, brakes are fine and almost the equal of the brakes in his 993RSR (good enough for me).

I was comparing the pedal to that in my previous C2 which was hard as rock, however it is a servo rather than pump assisted system so not comparing like with like.

According to Colin there is some variation across different RSs in terms of pedal feel, I am just happy that he is happy and that makes me happy (does that make sense).

Roll on Croft on the 25th ;-)
Cheers,
Kevin.

I'm waiting for Paul to phone me back --- I've been very very busy this last week.

But if the car's sorted, I could do the 25th as well --- subject to availability !
