sport chrono dial removal

Has anyone had their sport-chrono stopwatch/dial removed at an OPC?
Does anyone actually use it? the PDK changes with sportplus and the launch control I get, but the stopwatch isn't something I use or am ever likely to. Does anyone use it?
and the wife really doesn't like it sitting there on the dash - can it be removed and blanked off neatly, officially at an OPC as under warranty (987.2) ?

fair question
it's a lump sitting there on the dash that neither of us use - wife thinks it looks like an ugly wart - and it has no purpose that is of value to either of us.
I can live with it - it's just a thing that's there - but what's the point of having something sitting there that you don't (and never will) use?
and for general domestic harmony, advantageous to remove, hence the question, can it go neatly?

if not, ho hum, I'll live with it, just asking if anyone has bothered removing? and if anyone actually really uses it out of curiosity?

Dont these come with the Sport Chrono package, so don’t see the point removing as it would devalue the car on sale. I am sure there are a number of technical additions that perhaps never get used. Perhaps would have been best to buy a model without this if you don’t like the look of it?

I am sure the pod could be removed but blanking off the resultant hole woul probably be as, or more, unsightly than the instrument itself. You could get it replaced by a clock. Like you, I found it rather pointless, but fortunately the later version on the 981 has a clock function which makes it of some use.

fair point tjb - but in all other respects its a perfect car - not many low-mileage 987.2s around and almost none in main dealer channel - so you get the best you can from what's available.

anyway, sounds like the wart is staying - as said above messy to remove completely and would devalue the car on sale anyway.

Does anyone know if you can replace the dial on a 987.2 with one from a 981? It would be good to have a clock there, at least it would serve some purpose if you don't use the stop watch. I am guessing that the connections might be a big problem.
