Sport Chrono

Hi Guys

Had my first 'proper' track day at Castle Combe. Chatted to other Sport Chrono owners and now have a good idea of its advantages & disadvantages. I'll be writing in PP shortly. It is complicated (even if like me you are a jet pilot) & I have to say that when busy, the ergonomics of the operation are quite distracting. I missed resetting it at the end of a couple of laps with resulting loss of data. In the meantime, if you want to chat you know where I am.

[8D] So is it a "must have" option even if you are not a track day hero [;)]

In a word... NO

Though I only canvassed a very small number who had Sport Chrono, we thought that it was not a 'must have' option, even if you track your 997s. However, that is the opinion of just a small number. Perhaps I should canvass everyone.

Must say when speccing my 987 "S" it had zero appeal as I thought the demo car I tested when in "sport mode" absolutely ruined the standard Boxsters superb ride. If it ain't broke etc etc

I hit the Sport button and then return my PASM setting to normal. You then have a normal ride with improved throttle response.

Derek,
I read your article in PP (3 times !) and am nearer fathoming the various computations out for which I thank you. Will watch out for your second article to shed even more light. I use the Sport mode around Devon all the time and only use the normal setting when on a motorway for comfort. Call me old fashioned but the sharper response and handling is what driving a Porsche is all about. My only complaint is the location of the switches as it was only your article that led me to the PASM button hidden out of view.
