Sport design offsets

Suppose this is to Nick really (and anybody else with the same wheels), are you running ET65 on the back or ET52's? I've been offered both and wondered which way to go? thanks, bennyboy

Hi Bennyboy

I was out bid on some 18" Sport design wheels and they were the following to get similair clearances to my original Turbo alloys.

7.5 x 18 with an ET of 50 PCD rears 9 x 18 with an ET of 52

Think I saw those Lee. I really want to keep my tyres though, which are 8.5 and 10, so I reckon the 65 rear offset would be better - just a bit worried about clearance on the inside?

My speedline cups are 10"/et 65,ive only test fitted the rim with no tyre so im not sure about arch clearance measurements but they fit without catching the trailing arm but would need the handbrake cable moved round slightly !!

Looking at the offset calculator it states the clearances compared to standard Turbo wheels would be
if you took standard as 9 x 16 ET60 your new size 10 x 18 ET65:

Inner Clearance:

18mm Less

(the inside of the wheel to the strut housing)

Outer Position:

Extend 8mm More

(position of the outside edge of the wheel)

Don't think your post worked quite right, but I have looked at the offset calc and seen the result, just not sure what the impact of the results would be?

The impact is that the back of the wheel will be 18mm closer to the strut/wheel well wall and the front of the wheel will be 8mm further out if you move from 16/60 to 18/65 wheels. What are the size and offset of your current wheels? Find out (the numbers are stamped beside the tyre valve or on the back of the wheel) and then go to:
http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp
and you will see what the difference from your current fit is.
IIRC you can fit 10/65s on the back of a 944.
PS Have you got a 20mm spacer fitted and the moment? Did you have one before you fitted the Speedlines?

Hi Paul, no I don't have any spacers fitted. My speedlines are 18 x 10" and ET47 at the back, which causes rubbing on the passenger side. Just waiting for some nice 10 x 18" alloys with ET52+ to come up on ebay!
