Sport mode retrofit

Hi

I have seen the advertisments for the "sport mode" both in a mail shot from the dealer and in Christophorus. I have a Boxster (spelt correctly for those that watch - LOL) MY2009 2.9 with basic PSM so what does the retrofit get me apart from a switch on the dashboard?

An engine remap I suppose and what about the PSM? What happens with this?

When I had a TTR I had a remap and the difference was very noticable! But I thought this was the case with turbos only and that remaps with normally aspirated didnt deliver a big difference ( I am happy to be corrected on this).

Is it worth the asked for £650 ish? Do those withPSAM and PDK get a "better" package as the price is the same?

Also would one have to inform the insurance company regarding a performance add on?

Thanks for advice

Nick

Without PDK and/or PASM it doesn't do that much: increased throttle sensitivity and a reduced/delayed intervention of PSM.

I would guess that if you informed your insurer they would increase your premium, even though it doesn't give you a remap/increase in BHP. Any excuse!

I can't heel/toe without the Sport, so had to spec it. It's takes too long for the revs to rise between shifts without it. As a retrofit without the "wart" I'd say it's a good deal.

I totally agree with this.

However, to the previous comments about insurance .... (No I will bite my lip on this one) .... I will 'politely' disagree with the comment ... It is Sunday after all.

totally disagree[:D]

in my list of "essential extras!" sport chrono/pse would be probably number 2/3 along with bi-xenons.no.4 would be thicker sports streeing wheel.i find the sport button very addictive and does provide a better response.

Got it as an original option, with the wart but rarely have opportunity to use it extensively, good fun when I do use it of course on the occasional empty and twisty road. Used the stopwatch about twice.

Last autumn the chrono went wrong and took out all of the column operated systems, indicators, lights, trip computer, wipers. I find the auto dimming mirrors and auto wipers more beneficial.

None of the options were a problem on my insurance but they did say that if I have any options such as short shifter added at a later date they would need to be informed.

My mileage limit is 14,000
