Sport suspension kit

This may be one for Richard....

After a delayed start due to the wrong kit being ordered (if anyone wants a kit for ealry 996 cabrio, tip 2wd, OPC Bolton have a spare one)
I have now stripped everything but found that I also need to replace the spring plates from the thin ones to the thicker ones at front and rear.
Can anyone confirm how important these are to replace - I know they are specified to match the springs for a reason, but the car is only evey driven 'normally'.

The original springs hae a white stripe whilst th new ones have green.

Has anyone replaced these parts when upgrading?

Cheers
Dave

The spring "compensation" plates are also marked white (standard) and green (sport). They are 3.0mm and 6.5mm thick respectively.

I haven't known anyone change them, and the fact that they aren't included in the retrofit kit, makes me think it isn't necessary. If it was important, surely they would be included. I presume it will make the car 3.5mm lower. [:)]

Thanks Richard,
This project seems to have been tainted from the start, off to my favorite OPC in the morning (now have own parking space and just waiting for invite to staff Christmas party) as whilst checking other bits found sheered bolts in the wheel bearing retaining plate, ABS sensor and rear tin stone shields on both sides, whilst I'm there I may as well get the correct plates - I will fit the thicker ones as I wasn't too keen on the 10mm lowering anyway so if these are needed to prevent a further reduction in height, it suits me.

I have to say that the aluminium carrier assembly is causing me problems with bolts not wanting to come out - or at least not without the thread as well.

Changing my corroded discs as well and just found one of the metal lugs on the anti-squeal shim is seized into the piston.

I've never had so much fun since owning the TVR [:D]

Thanks again,
Dave
